UNRELENTING ADVOCATE
FOR OUR FAMILIES
Hi. My name is Will Cagle and I’m running for Commissioner in Cherokee County.
I am a father of four, small business owner, and 7th-generation Cherokee County resident. I am lifelong resident of the county, and am running on a platform centered around fiscal responsibility, developing innovative, non-tax-based solutions for funding public services, smart growth, and community service.
One of my priorities is reducing the tax burden on Cherokee County residents without compromising the essential services that make the county such a desirable place to live.
Cherokee County is a wonderful place to live, and I believe we can take practical steps to reduce the financial strain on residents while continuing to provide the high-quality public services we all depend on. My mother and grandmother were both teachers in the Cherokee County School District, my great uncle served as sheriff, and my oldest son is a firefighter with Cherokee Fire. I have the deepest respect for the work our public servants do every day. I also understand the challenges these families—and many others—face due to rising taxes. As the Post 1 Commissioner, I’ll focus on balanced, responsible decisions that support our community and ease the burden on taxpayers.
Demonstrating my commitment to fiscal responsibility and community support I am pledging to donate my entire commissioner’s salary to local charities for at least the duration of my first term. This pledge underscores my belief in leading by example and making a meaningful impact on the lives of those he seeks to serve.
I have lived in Cherokee county my entire life and have actively contributed through volunteer work with local charities, coaching sports and serving on the boards of youth focused organizations. I am also a proud member of several veterans organizations, and have tried to consistently prioritized service—to our country, our community, and veterans.
Leading by example means taking action, and I’m committed to investing in our community and making sure our tax dollars work smarter for everyone. Both myself and my campaign would like to encourage each of you to give back in any way you can. I truly believe that even the smallest acts of service can make a meaningful impact, and that the best investment we can make in our community is volunteering our time.
I am committed to
Alleviating the tax burden on our citizens by eliminating wasteful, redundant, or unnecessary spending and thoughtfully exploring alternative revenue sources, all while ensuring the safety and well-being of our public servants remain uncompromised.
Establishing local think tanks to develop innovative strategies for increasing revenue, strengthening public services, and easing the tax burden on residents.
Implementing an Asset Management Program to ensure responsible stewardship, proper maintenance, and accurate accounting of all county-owned property to further offset needless and wasteful spending.
Keeping Cherokee tax dollars in Cherokee by implementing a policy that requires where all County construction contracts are awarded, general contractors must either be based within the county and utilize a minimum of 50% local subcontractors, or, if based outside the county, employ at least 75% subcontractors who are Cherokee County residents.
Promoting responsible growth by streamlining overly restrictive regulations that hinder large landowners from subdividing their property into spacious, low-density lots. Current requirements often compel owners to create smaller parcels simply to meet burdensome infrastructure mandates. I support policies that reduce unnecessary barriers and incentivize the development of larger lots with generous minimum acreage and Conservation Design Communities.
Addressing the foster parent shortage in Cherokee County. When my own family fostered local children, there were 360 kids in need and only 62 licensed homes. Many were placed far from their siblings and community. I know fostering is rewarding but financially challenging. I support county-level incentives—like tax credits and services—to help more Cherokee residents become certified foster parents.
True leadership means leading by example—never asking others to do what you are not willing to do yourself.
That’s why I am committing my entire salary as commissioner to support local youth initiatives, including funding participation in youth sports for underprivileged children, providing summer camp scholarships through Cherokee County 4-H, supporting the Cherokee Service League’s ongoing programs, and the Cherokee Family Violence Center.
My commitment will remain in place for at least the duration of his first term.

I would love to hear from you and am grateful for your consideration.
V/R-
Will Cagle
